ICT les: Tumblr

Tijdens deze ICT-les ga ik jullie wat meer bekend maken met blogs. Een blog moet je zien als een digitaal dagboek, maar dan met wat meer mogelijkheden. Je kan namelijk op je blog je eigen foto’s, video’s, quotes, links en muziek plaatsen. Natuurlijk voor eigen gebruik maar ook voor vrienden/kennissen en familie. Dat maakt in feite helemaal niets uit. We gebruiken hiervoor het site: Tumblr en het enige wat we nodig hebben hiervoor is:

- Internetverbinding,

- Een Gmail account en

- Een stel hersenen

Supersimpel.

1.       Als eerste ga je naar www.google.nl en maak je daar een Gmail-account aan.

Je meld je rechtsboven aan. (Als je al een Gmail-account hebt, ga je meteen naar stap 4)

2.       Hier moet je natuurlijk even je gegeventjes invullen.

3.       Nadat je dat hebt gedaan, kom je in je mailbox terecht. Ga nu direct door naar Tumblr.

4.       Je vult (1) je Gmail in, (2) een wachtwoord voor je Tumblr-account en (3)  je URL.

Een URL staat voor: Uniform Resource Locator en is simpelweg de naam die je je site wilt geven.

5.       Hierna wordt er een bevestigingsmail gestuurd naar je Gmail en als je daarop klikt wordt je weer teruggestuurd naar Tumblr

en kun je aan de slag.

6.       Zoals jullie kunnen zien, kan je nu verschillende posts maken en die op je blog zetten.
Van een simpele text-post tot aan een video post.

7.       Rechtsboven kan je op “Customize Appearance” het uiterlijk (theme) van je blog veranderen.

Als je kijkt op http://www.tumblr.com/themes kan je daar een theme kiezen naar keuze en die aanpassen aan je blog. Je kan ook natuurlijk zelf aan je blog sleutelen door middel van HTML-codes.

8. En dan komen we aan bij het moeilijke gedeelte: de HTML codes.

De Opdrachten:

1. Maak een (Gmail en) Tumblr aan de hand van deze uitleg.

2. Post hierbij 1 (zelfgeschreven) tekst naar keuze waarbij:

1. minstens 3 zinnen vetgedrukt zijn.
2. minstens 3 zinnen cursief zijn.
3. minstens 3 zinnen onderstreept zijn.
4. minstens 2 hyperlinks erin verwerkt zijn.

3. Post ook een zelfgekozen embedded video (via youtube, vimeo etc.) en schrijf hier wat over.

4. Post ook een foto van jezelf met wat vrienden/kennissen of familieleden en schrijf wat hierover.

5. Als dit je allemaal gelukt is, heb je al een fantastisch beginnetje gemaakt met je blog. Het is misschien alleen niet leuk om alleen jou zelf op je dashboard te zien (noem het je timeline van twitter of je newsfeed van facebook) dus is het tijd om wat klasgenoten te volgen. Je vraagt aan je klasgenoten wat diegene’s URL is en je klikt rechtsboven op follow. 

Volg minstens 5 klasgenoten!

6. Daarna gaan jullie allen naar www.blvcklight.tumblr.com (mijn Tumblr) en klikken dan allemaal op de follow knop rechtsboven en typen in mijn vragenvakje (askbox) jullie URL.

7. Als laatste sturen jullie allemaal een aparte Word doc. met alle html codes die je heb moeten gebruiken en de uitleg daarvan. In deze les komen we niet verder dan het aanmaken van de Gmail en de Tumblr en misschien de eerste posts. We gaan de volgende les verder.

Phonetics part 2

And we keep it to the phonetic side of English people. This time I will show you a video of a woman that have been making video's for quite a long time (named: Jennifer) and might be very useful in learning the different phonetic sounds. This is lesson 1 and also the introduction of the subject and many more follow after this one. What I find good about this video is the fact that her explanation and examples are very clear and the video has a nice pace, not too fast and not too slow. It's also a great tool for not only students of my age but also for small children or adults.

Phonetics

During the lessons of Phonetics we learned a lot about pronunciation in the British language and its usage. And with it, we came across many different terms like:

• plosives, affricates, fricatives, nasals, laterals, aproximants,
• vowels, consonants,
• bilabial, labio-dental, dental, alveoloar, post-alveolar, uvular,
• aspirations, glottal reinforcements and so on.

I know learning/memorizing/practise using these definitions might be a pain in the you know what but I've decided to help you guys with the use of some sites.

1. The first one I discovered was this one right here. The link is from the Macmillan Books for Teachers site and might be very useful when learning the different vowels and consonants. When you click on the different sounds, you hear a voice that will make the sound for you, so it makes it much easier to repeat and to study them. You can also download the software on your own pc and study the sounds every single time you want!
2. The second link that could be convienient for studying Phonetics is this one. And this is a nice one. You can actually practice your phonemic symbols here. Copy a text that interests you, a poem, a songlyric, whatever and paste it in the box. Now you can transcribe the text by clicking on the phonemic symbols. You're welcome. =)
3. The last link I'm going to show you guys is this link right over here somewhere And what do you know? It's a whole page full of fun exercises regarding Phonetics. You can click on the variety of exercises to see what things you can do on this site. From odd one out exercises till the silent letter ones. It is a Spanish site though, but that doesn't really matter when you're learning English sounds!
